But the plain fact of the matter is that the book’s message is empty and destructive and won’t even leave you with a book to believe in. Some decisions made by Dai Sijie in the writing of this book was rather strange, imo. Perhaps I would have enjoyed the plot to rely more heavily on the whereabouts and historical context!
This was a delightful little story, but suffered greatly from lack of character development.

The book goes on to accidentally confirm what I’m saying by revealing that the widely known and widely respected village tailor had seen one similar on the wall every day for years when he’d worked as an apprentice for another man in the village? The story is really cisturera, I love it.
All in all, it was a rather lackluster book that kept making me want to doze off and wonder when the whole point of the novel would show up. It was about books and the seamstress girl – and when that story ended, so did the book. Towards the end the perspective changes for what feels like absolutely no bqlzac and I found myself saying, “what?!

This book is not yet featured on Listopia. There was a problem filtering reviews right now. While I wish I could say the last sentence of this book changed my opinion of it, I can’t really.
There was a problem filtering reviews ls now. Near the end there was a sudden shift of perspectives — most of the tale pa narrated by Ma, but suddenly there was a section by Lou, the seamstress, and a random village person, for no discernable reason. Probably a little of all of these.
He also wrote and directed an adaptation of Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress, released in However, I disapprove of abandoning characters after they have outlived their uses.
Which I guess makes me realize that Sijie seemed so costrera with showing off his erudition that he got too lazy to flesh out the characters or plot. I feel it capitalized on Western stereotypes and failed to present any real human story.

The stuff about villagers’ clothes suddenly being made in the 19th century French style was unbelievable I can’t remember anything so detailed in the “Count of Monte Cristo”. There are enough better, more complex, and humanizing books and films about the Cultural Revolution that this doesn’t really hold up in comparison.
It doesn’t important to me. Share your chinw with other cchina. We get some hints that nebbish boy feels he had somehow been part of a betrayal, but not enough. It has something to do with my dream, I suppose, lol.
