If you are looking for a book to read during the Thanksgiving holidays, I cannot recommend Cotillion enough, for its conclusion is as satisfying as its very promising beginning. Then there is Lord Dolphinton, the dim-witted cousin who wants to marry a Cit’s daughter and who literally hides under a table when he thinks his mother is coming after him!! His captive in sprig muslin has more than her rapturous good looks and bandboxes to aid her – she is also possessed of a runaway imagination Twists and turns round every corner.
I hope you love this book as much as I do!
Witty, charming and wonderfully read. One meets one of the most unlikely heroes not only in all Heyerdom, but also in all literature, in this cotjllion and he reaches unexpected dephts. No comment on himI don’t want to give anything away! Can Frederick successfully introduce his faux Intended to his family and Society without having to submit to the Shackles of Marriage? I’ve listened to this book at leat 30 times and I still love it when I need cotillin laugh!!

I loved that Freddy seems at first a bit ridiculous himself, and heger stupid, but he turns out to be perfectly suited to the society he lives in, perfectly capable of getting Kitty out of any scrapes she gets into, and of orchestrating everyone’s happy endings. In particular, the dashing rake Jack. I loved Freddie’s father and his sister, Meg and Dolph was also great fun.

Thus commences Cotillion, one of my heysr favorite Heyer novels, and the fallout from this ill-conceived ruse leads this colorful cast through a series of outrageous predicaments. Cotillion – Finished, Spoilers Allowed. Resourceful cousin Freddie turned out to be more of a man than Kitty anticipated. Only when considering my other re-reads does it become clear again that this Jack is geogrette that extraordinary, that Heyer always rooted for the down-to-Earth protagonists – even if they seem to behave more outragously than the rest.
Quite a bit of humour in this storyline. I might make this my Second Favorite Heyer Novel. Can she really cotilliion falling in love with him, and he with her? Goodreads helps you keep track of books you want to read. Freddy could very well be out there–realistic and dreamy at the same time–and as Georegtte says: The side plot twists, which the hero and heroine tie up very neatly on their way, are hilarious.
So Kitty, being new to London, naturally wants to see all the famous London sights, which Freddy has absolutely no interest in! Pencuik really desired — his favorite, the rakish Jack Westruther — and he has failed to put in an appearance.

And it strikes me that it is the one Heyer book I can think of in which it is the man, not the woman, who is sold in marriage to the highest bidder. This is something anyone who enjoys a good romance should read.
