Visually check dust unloading valve A. Failure to check the oil level regularly could lead to serious engine problems if oil level is low:.
Install air cleaner canister cover with rubber dust unloading valve pointing downward. Check condition of all hoses. The vehicle requires large volumes of air to keep cool. Lift radiator slightly to access drain plug C. Start and run engine at medium speed until upper and lower radiator hoses have become warm 10 – 15 minutesindicating thermostat has opened and coolant aervice circulating.
If servuce drain plug is seized, lower radiator hose can be removed for draining purposes.

Certain geographical areas may require lower temperature protection. Oil capacities given are with engine and crankcase completely dry.
After all solution has drained, install radiator drain plug or hose and tighten engine block drain screws. Do not open canister unless required for scheduled service. Check and remove any obstructions to brake linkage attached to output shafts on both sides of transaxle. Filter element must be checked more frequently if operating in dusty conditions. Do not lose or substitute with any other type of washer. See the label on your antifreeze container or consult your John Deere dealer to obtain the latest information and recommendations.
Carburetor is calibrated by the engine manufacturer and is not adjustable. Check all hose clamps and tighten as needed. Unscrew the transaxle shift lever knob.
Locate the fuel filter A at the front of the engine compartment. Compressed air can cause debris to fly a long distance.

Remove bleed screw and seal washer A located by carburetor. Fuel vapors are explosive and flammable: Start and run engine until it reaches operating temperature. Gatof sure end of hose C is positioned slightly above bottom of reservoir. After performing the checks in the troubleshooting section and your engine is still not performing correctly, contact your John Deere dealer.
Do not run an engine in an enclosed area without adequate ventilation. Change the oil more often if the vehicle is used in extreme conditions: Remove vator securing spark arrestor A to muffler exhaust pipe.
Remove radiator drain plug or disconnect lower radiator hose D. Fill radiator completely with flushing solution. Stop engine and allow muffler mankal pipe to cool completely before checking spark arrestor. Tighten bleed screw with washer halfway into bleed port. DO NOT operate engine without air cleaner element and rubber dust unloading valve installed. Built-up pressure may cause explosive release of coolant when the radiator cap is removed: Touching hot surfaces can burn skin.
This will keep contamination of the intake system to a minimum. Allow the engine to cool before servicing. Cooling system capacity is approximately 4. Use a thick rag or gloves to protect your skin.
